Automatic Choke operation – dеllorto carburettor – How does it works and what’s inside

What’s inside an automatic choke of dellorto carburettor (PHVA or PHVB).
The choke works at around 12V. Max consumption in the first few seconds drops from 2A to 0.6 A and then gradually goes down to 0.2A, where it stays. The needle extends to max 8mm and it took it around 5-10mins.
Another nice video demonstrating the operation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVLHaVPf7SI

Nice video. Very helpful. Do you think it’s possible to connect directly to the battery to test this unit?

Thank you for destroying your choke. Just about to buy a scooter and I´m glad I don’t need to destroy mine to know how it works. Great video 😀

Benz Kixxs says:

one question , if the automatic choke isn’t good does the scooter start up?
