When it comes to liter-class streetfighters, Europe’s been putting the Japanese contenders to shame. Granted, with the KTM 1290 Super Duke R, BMW S1000R, and Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 ruling the roost, this is a tough nut to crack. However, leave it to the tuning fork brand to bring an answer: the 2017 Yamaha FZ-10 (or MT-10 for our Euro viewers). Sharing the awesome Crossplane crankshaft engine from the current R1, Yamaha has made some changes to bring the power back to the midrange, where street riders use it most. Frame and suspension remain the same, and although the hi-tech IMU on the R1 isn’t here, the FZ-10 isn’t hurting in the tech department. Yamaha brought Motorcycle.com’s Troy Siahaan out to the (in)famous Tail of the Dragon on the North Carolina/Tennessee border to put the bike to the test. What does he think of it? Nice work guys. Big fan!
At least Standard – A – B is now following an order. Maybe P1 – P2 -P3 would have been more clever names.
Those hideous yellow wheels though. The difference between a badass, mad max transformer and a wacky fluro racerboy bike. Yuck.
hello Troy Siahaan, are you indonesian people??? i mean, siahaan it’s one of special name from indonesian… i’m from indonesia, troy… 😀
org medan wkwkw
Not a fan of digital tachs, never will be. They are horrible in every way.
If I didn’t want to vomit every time I looked at it then maybe I’d consider it. But it’s probably the most ugly bike I’ve ever seen, it’s disgusting
Hmmmm… I owned a 2003 FZ-1. Loved that bike and it had great gas mileage and tons of aftermarket. Still in production this year so no plans on killing it so far? It’s still a ton cheaper than this new FZ-10 and I think the FZ-1 is a lighter bike. Guess it comes down to preference.
Indonesian Rider (Troy Siahaan)
Not a big fan of the highway worker green rims.
That’s a review. Take note MCN.
But will Yamaha bring FZ-10 in Fazer look with a more touring capabilities.Like Ktm did with Super Duke GT.And i hate when only one head light is on.
???
is it just me or crossplane just makes the bike sound terrible?
it’s just a new Fazer 1000 what’s the big deal
this bike like a megatron
He slightly looks like Rob Schneider!
I have an fz07 and I need MO POWA
i NEED to go fishing at that dam
they use a counterbalncer inside the cross plain engine spun off the crankshaft by a piece of crap link plate chain, plus counter balancers r known for eating the balancer bearing shorting the engine life and really shorting the engine life if u raise the rev limiter, so raising the rev limiter is off the table plus it vibrates anyway n when u get a few miles on it the link plate chain that drives the counter balancer starts getting stretched allowing drive line slack which gets worse n worse n Yamaha will tell riders like they did on the fz09 its the chain slack? bullshit its the counterbalance chain getting play in it, so Yamaha go back to the genesis 5 valve which was n is a freaking insane animal smooth as a electric motor n they stay that way there r some of the original fzr 1000 engines still running today from 1987, they wont be able to say that about the cross plain engines, however I like the idea of using fuel injection n different driving modes as this would unleash the dragon on the genesis engine still found in yamahas FZ-1, n those whom have discovered how n who to have ecu flashed have found that to be true, cross plain wheres the rpm? compared to the say r600 or even the fz1 there is none, if I wanted a thumper id buy a thumper, Yamaha u working for the epa ? trying to slow us fast guys down by selling us emisionize lawyered up slow bikes?
Random question but what helmet is that? thanks
Yamaha has been at the top in everything for awhile now. Between them and KTM we are all in for a good time!
i really love it
why does it only has 1 headlight?
Do you guys think it would be okay to get a fz10 as a second bike? My first bike will be a FZ6R or SV650.
